A lonely night

I walked around the palace, alone. I didn't have any friends, though I didn't care so much about that. I wanted to do a little bit of training, so i headed to the training area. I had the whole area to myself, seeing as no one was allowed here after classes. Other than me that is. I went to the dummy and started by getting a good stance. I held out my hand and brought the water to me. I took a breath and started training.

Tora walked to the entrance and sort of "watched". Feeling out her moves, studying them. She was at the Northern Water Tribe mainly to get away from the small huts and overly-friendly people in the South.

I felt someone was around but I didn't stop. I'd wait and see what they'd do. I changed my stance, to preapare for a back attack while still hitting the target.

"Move your foot back a little bit more," Tora said, giving a bit of advice. "Something can go wrong if your feet are too close."

I turned to the person who spoke. "Thank you for the advice. though this move asks for my feet to be close." I took the stance again and did the move i had seen the warriors use. I only hit half the target. I turned back towards the girl. "I thank you once more. I am Karena."

"Tora," she replied. "Do you live here, in the North?"

I nodded, slightly surprised she hadn't recognized me. No matter. "I have lived her all my life. And you Tora?" I walked towards her.

"I live in the Southern Water Tribe." Tora didn't move an inch. She mumbled, "where everything smells of bison."

I giggled lightly. "I have never been there, though I do wish to visit it soon. Why does it smell like bison?" That explains why she doesn't know who i am... I thought to myself.

"The Tribe has to hunt, and that's mainly what we get. It's used for shelter, beds, carpets, food, clothing...the list could go on." Tora sighed.

I never imagined doing anything like that. I always had everything I wanted brought to me. "I have never been hunting, though I'd never be allowed to." I omitted the reason behind why I'd never be allowed to hunt.

"Only the men hunt," Tora said, "but it's worse being stuck in the Tribe. I had to get out."

"Oh..here some of the women do go, but only the strong." I told her. I went to take a small sip of water.

Tora didn't reply, but she sensed out her surroundings. "Sorry if I seem to...stare. I have been blind since I was a child."

"So that is why your eyes are so plae...I see.." I moved towards her. "But how is it that you see?" I was truly wondering it.

"I use sound, and vibrations to sense my surroundings," Tora said, "For instance, someone is coming here with something lifeless, still-most likely a target. Vibrations don't bounce off it well enough for me to be certain."

I turned and saw a Soldier comming in. He bowed to me. I was happy she was blind..."We were just leaving.." I said to him. His answer ruined it though...

"Yes Princess.."

I stopped moving..

"Princess Karena Drako? I expected as much." She heard the soldier leave, then turned more to Karena. "It's be a reason you're not like...one of the locals. The clothes stand out a bit more, the vibrations come off you different."

I sighed lightly. "You knew anyways?" I looked from the retreating Soldier to her. "Yes, I am the princess, but I would really rather be normal..even with everything I could get and learn I don't know the true feeling of life..Not like your people."

""The true feeling of life is measured differently to each person, though, I have yet to find it myself," Tora said. She remembered a lot of bad things in her life, and never once found out what she wanted out of life: love? revenge? anything?

She was an insightful one...this Tora. I knew there wuld be one place she would need to visit. "Follow me please." I didn't know weather to take her arm or hand..

Tora felt different things around her, far and near, that she'd never "seen".

I concentrated and brought up a snow chair for us to sit on. I sat down, patting the spot next to me for her to sit. "This was created long ago by one of the avatars...up till now I was the only one who knew about it.."
